DROWNING

I sink beneath the surface and my lungs are filling up.
My ivory gown wrapped around me like a ribbon.
I cannot breathe.
My eyesight is fading.
And what can I do?
Im reaching up and touching the sunlight as it sparkles into my opened, blurry eyes.
My mind is blank and the world around me is bare.
I open my mouth to speak as bubbles start to rise to the top and no sound comes out.
I move my body and begin to press myself upward,
But the chains around my ankles stunt my potential.
One chain from the very evil of my own thoughts.
The other from a rather reliable source.
Let me go.
I'm crying out.
Stop holding me back.
I need to be free and I need to fight for this.
This is for me.
For once let me do this for me.
The water starts to press on my head as I stay sunken at the bottom.
I cannot move.
I cannot speak.
I cannot hear.
I cannot see.
Now all that's left is drowning.
